5. Trekking

Day Hiking in Bir Billing
is like having so much on your plate. There are many trekking routes in and around Bir. It’s tiring to decide where to hike first. Either you go for a waterfall trek in Bir or for an off-beat trek to the mountains. Make sure you do an apt enquiry prior to heading to your clandestine place. A piece of advice, don’t go alone.

Here are some of the unforgettable hikes that you should never miss out on!

a. Tribal Village Trek to Thathi Village

There are two ways you can reach this far-flung village. One is via Sansal village, and the second is via Ghodnala village. Fascinatingly, you’ll encounter three outlying villages on your way- Chougan Thathi, Kryon Thathi, Kothar Thathi. This trek is hands down the most startling one. Maybe it’s a wide mark as there are many beautiful treks around the world. But once you’re up there, you’ll end up prattling the same. If you look at the houses here, they are built-in Kathi-Kuni style (Pahari architecture). Few may start dreaming of living in such a house away from the noisy city life. Additionally, if you book yourself at the Camp Oak view, the village is a 2-3 hours trek from the site.

b. Hot Water Spring at Tatwani

Natural hot water spring near Bir is at Tatwani, a 12 km ride and 5 km trek away from Bir. Once you turn up here, you’ll witness a small man-made pool where you can bathe and splatter around in the sheer surroundings. Temple here is devoted to Lord Shiva with small flags on the other side of the stream. Bow your forehead and take blessing from Lord Shiva. It is a day hike, come early in the morning and say goodbye to this place in the evening. It’s a bit risky if you start late as all of it is in boonies. Only a few may know that a hot water spring contains thawed chemicals and minerals beneficial for the human body. Hence, it holds a lot of medicinal values. Walk here for a peerless bathing experience, relax, detox your skin. It’s a real delight.

c. Trek to Rajgundha Village

Rajgundha is one of the prettiest hidden gems of the valley. This beautiful trek is 12 km from Bir Billing. While your footsteps approach this village, you can enjoy the flawless surroundings. The route is quite simple. Firstly, what will amaze you is an enchanting dense forest, colorful birds chirping, gushing turquoise blue river, like it all came out of a storybook. Secondly, you can’t help your jaws drop once you reach the village. It’s too beautiful to be real. The best part is that there is no single best time to visit this place, you can trek throughout the year except for the monsoon months. If you want to escape the summer heat, visit in the summers but if you are a snow lover do visit this quaint town in winters. You can camp here or even stay at a guesthouse to have one of the most memorable nights of your life. Prominently, carry your essentials and start walking.

d. Hanumangarh Trek

Want to see the best of Bir Billing from the highest point? Hike to Hanumangarh and witness the same. It is situated at a height of 3200 meters on the top of a mountain. The beautiful story behind this place is a must-read, just google it. If you already know, make sure you know all of it by climbing up to Hanumangarh. You can see the remains of the fort and a Hanuman temple. It is believed that the Lord protects this place from evil. Trek starts from Bari village through the dense pine forests, and it takes 2 hours to reach there. From the top, you can see the spectacular views of Dhauladhar ranges on one side, and on the other is the beautiful Kangra valley. The climb is quite steep, and through your way, you’ll spot rivers, bridges, shepherds with their flocks, and you’ll feel as fascinating as the story behind. You can stay here for a night camping as well.

6. Mountain Biking/Cycling Activities

Adventure enthusiasts often look for exciting sports. Mountain biking/ cycling is one of the most adventurous activities to be done in Bir Billing. If you are experts at driving in the hilly areas, you can opt to ride a bike alone, but if not then it is ill-advised to go alone. Riding in mountains is dreadfully arduous. There are specially trained divers whom you can take along. Also, you can cycle to the Palpung Sherabling monastery in the Tibetan colony area. Easy and moderate. Get up and go, enjoy your trip to the mountains or keep exploring the town.

7. Hang Gliding

Hang gliding is the second prevalent activity of this quaint town, first is the evergreen paragliding. For this air master, you need to get trained ahead of time, so it is advisable to choose the operator wisely and take proper lessons before you go for it. Physical fitness is required here. Also, training needs a month or two so, if you want to indulge in it, you’ve to be prepared, but in case you don’t know about the same, you certainly are not ready for this. The flight starts from Billing and lands in Bir. You’ll glide over the witty mountains. For better views of the sun going down, glide in the evening.

Spend your audacious vacation in this bubbly town. Do paragliding in Bir, trek to secret places, camp under a billion stars, ride into the mountains, watch colorful creatures flying, all are going to amaze you in many ways. Make your trip to Bir a memorable one.
