Begin at Kafnu and follow the Bhaba valley through forest and grazing grounds to progressively higher camps. Cross the pass early in stable weather, descend into Pin Valley and continue towards Mud or the current vehicle-access point. Exact campsite names and river crossings vary with the season.

July to September is the main crossover season after snow reduces on the pass. The Kinnaur side can still receive monsoon rain even when Spiti is drier, so rivers and slopes may be affected. September generally becomes colder. Keep buffer days for both the trail and long Spiti road journey.
