Everything you need to know

Bhrigu Lake is a compact high-altitude trek for travellers who want an alpine experience without committing to a week-long expedition. The trail rises quickly from the Manali side of Kullu Valley, crossing forest and broad meadows before reaching the lake below Bhrigu Peak. The lake is held sacred locally and sits at about 4,235 metres. Because the altitude gain is significant, steady pacing, hydration and an acclimatisation-aware plan matter more than speed.

Bhrigu Lake Trek FAQs

Is Bhrigu Lake Trek suitable for beginners?

Fit first-time trekkers can consider it with proper acclimatisation, but the rapid altitude gain makes it more demanding than a normal hill walk.

How high is Bhrigu Lake?

Himachal Tourism lists the lake at about 4,235 metres above sea level.

Can I complete the trek in two days?

Shorter plans exist, but a three-day schedule gives more time for pacing and changing mountain conditions.

Will the lake be visible throughout the season?

Snow and ice around the lake vary by month. Access and the final approach depend on current trail and weather conditions.

Do I need a guide?

A local guide is strongly recommended because weather, snow cover and trail visibility can change quickly.
